Strengthening inclusion and diversity across ASAF and Erasmus+ networks

On 6 November 2025, a three-hour webinar on Diversity and Inclusion, brought together ASAF Co-Ambassadors, Committee Members and Co-speakers. The session provided a platform to discuss diversity and inclusion within ASAF and strengthen collaboration across the network.

The webinar on Diversity and Inclusion aimed to equip ASAF members with the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to serve as inclusive ambassadors of the Erasmus+ programme. With the support of the ESS-Team and Board Members Roshan Halkhoree and Elizabeth Mang’eni, it raised awareness on diversity and inclusion, strengthened participants’ ability to communicate effectively using inclusive language and introduced practical inclusive approaches for application across network activities.

20 participants gained guidance on designing and implementing activities and events that promote Erasmus+ while fostering more inclusive environments.
Co-Ambassadors, Committee Members of Mobility Programmes Diversity and Inclusion and Co-speakers from the various Taskforces gained valuable tools to promote diversity and inclusion within their communities and the wider Erasmus+ network, fostering equitable opportunities, cultural understanding and enhancing collaboration across borders to strengthen the network.

The programme was structured around the following key topics:

  • Understanding the concepts of diversity and inclusion – introducing participants to core principles and definitions, and their relevance in network activities.
  • Unconscious bias: recognising and overcoming it – exploring how biases may affect decision-making and interactions, and strategies to mitigate their impact.
  • Communicating effectively using inclusive language – providing practical guidance on how language choices influence inclusivity and engagement.
  • Applying inclusive practices in network activities – sharing actionable approaches to ensure that events, discussions, and initiatives are accessible and respectful of all participants.

The Diversity and Inclusion webinar provided participants with knowledge and practical strategies on how ASAF can be accessible, welcoming and representative of diverse perspectives. Discussions highlighted the relevance of the topics covered, such as unconscious bias, inclusive language and to the role of diversity within ASAF, showing that these themes resonate strongly across the network. The reflections gathered will inform future activities, ensuring that ASAF’s initiatives remain relevant, accessible, and impactful for members.
