Erasmus+ Scholarships Promoted in Brazzaville, Congo

Local event in Brazzaville, Congo highlights Erasmus+ and Intra-Africa scholarship opportunities for youth, with support from ASAF and the European Union.

Promoting Better Education Through Erasmus+ Scholarships 

The local event held on 25 April 2025 in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, brought together students, university representatives, and international stakeholders to promote Erasmus+ and Intra-Africa mobility scholarships. The event, hosted at Denis Sassou Nguesso  University, aimed to raise awareness about higher education opportunities offered through European Union-supported programs. 

Key Stakeholders and Participants 

The event gathered a wide range of stakeholders committed to advancing international education for African students: 

African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF) was represented by Alexandre Zoummanand Dr. Prince MalouonoA, both members of the ASAF Board of Directors. 

The European Union Delegation to Congo Brazzaville was represented by Her Excellency Ambassador Anne Machal, Head of Delegation, and Ms. Azaad Mante, Communication Officer. 

Professor Michel Didace Mvoula Tsieri, Vice-President of Denis Sassou Nguesso  University, delivered the opening address. 

The youth collective "Toza Bilengué" also participated and contributed to the day’s activities. 

Programme Highlights 

The event officially began at 9:30 AM and concluded at 2:30 PM. It opened with a welcome address from Professor Mvoula Tsieri, followed by remarks from Ambassador Machal, who emphasised the EU's commitment to supporting African youth through academic mobility. 

Dr. Prince Malouono then introduced the mission and vision of ASAF, highlighting the importance of alumni engagement and continental collaboration. Ms. Azaad Mante gave a detailed presentation on the Erasmus+ scholarship program, explaining how students can access international academic opportunities in Europe. 

Following this, Alexandre Zoumman introduced the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme, offering insights into scholarships available between African universities and how they complement Erasmus+. 

These presentations were followed by a Q&A session, during which students raised questions about eligibility, application procedures, and personal experiences. Other ASAF members present at the event also shared their mobility experiences, either orally or through visual presentations. 

The session concluded with a presentation by the Toza Bilengué youth collective, who discussed their role in empowering youth and promoting education in Congo. 

Conclusion 

The event successfully raised awareness of academic mobility and inspired students to consider applying for Erasmus+ and Intra-Africa scholarships. With strong support from the European Union and ASAF, initiatives like this are key to expanding educational access and promoting cross-continental cooperation in higher education.
