Bridging regions at the Erasmus Generation Meeting 2026
ASAF attended this year’s Erasmus Generation Meeting in Split, Croatia, as part of the ESAA delegation, supporting cross-border cooperation.
From 16–19 April 2026, more than 1,300 participants from across Europe and beyond gathered in Split for the Erasmus Generation Meeting (EGM) 2026, widely recognised as the largest student-led conference in Europe. Held under the theme “Port of Mobility – Gateway to Skills”, the event created a dynamic space for dialogue, learning and collaboration among young people, alumni and international partners.
As part of the Erasmus+ Student and Alumni Alliance (ESAA) delegation, the African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF) actively contributed to the programme through the interactive session “Cooperation across borders: a life skill”. The session invited participants to step into the role of international actors, simulating diplomatic missions and working together to respond to global challenges in a highly engaging and practical format.
Representing Africa and the Middle East, ASAF brought forward regional perspectives and insights, enriching discussions with local context and encouraging participants to explore meaningful approaches to cross-regional collaboration.
The session was delivered in collaboration with sister networks, including OCEANS, Network for Erasmus+ Alumni (Latin America), Western Balkans Alumni Association (Western Balkans & Eastern Partnership), and ASEF Asia-Europe Foundation (Asia). Together, these networks demonstrated how cooperation across borders can translate into concrete ideas and shared solutions.
Through its participation as part of the ESAA delegation, ASAF reinforced its commitment to strengthening global alumni connections, promoting youth engagement, and contributing to a more connected and collaborative international community.
