The ASAF Strategy Kick-off Workshop took place from 6 to 8 September 2019 in Bonn, Germany. Participants included eight ASAF volunteers, Ms Fiorella Perotto representing the European Commission and Mr Aklilu Desta, from the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the African Union (AU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (via video session). This first official ASAF Workshop discussed fundamental issues such as ASAF’s role and position in the wider AU-EU partnership and on Africa’s higher education scene, with the aim: 1. to develop a continental platform that facilitates learning mobility for African students, teachers and staff,  2. to play an important role in policy processes and 3. to focus on the student’s/alumnus perspective. The workshop ended with the presentation of a promising half year strategy for ASAF’s development. Besides the hard work and successful cooperation, social and networking activities completed this insightful weekend!
